How to use OccupyVancouverUSA

Using OccupyVancouverUSA is a lot like Facebook, You have friends, an Activity Stream, Groups, Messages and a Chat tool.

Here, I will show you how to navigate through the different areas.

***You do not need to register to comment on posts or comment in the forums.***

First, we want to login/create an account. This is located in the right sidebar of the website.

Once you have logged in you will see your name and Avatar (profile picture)

If you have any alerts or notifications you will find them in the top pane under “Notifications”

When you mouse over the notification you will get a drop down that you can click on.

You will be taken to your Inbox, The message will be highlighted, letting you know it is new.

Now, we look at your profile. Your profile is the hub of everything you will do on the website.

Just like with Facebook, you have the option to Like something and Share it. Here, we are looking at the Activity screen. This is everything you have posted to the website. Your comments in the Forums and Groups. If you have ever used Twitter, the Mentions section works the same way, it shows who has put your username (in my case, @dwalker) into a post/comment. If you click on Favorite on a post, these will show up under your Favorites. Friends, lists off all your friends and Groups lists off the current groups your a member of.

Speaking of Groups. At the top of the screen, if you click on “Groups” You will see a listing of the groups available to join.

Once on this page, you can click to join a group, or if you don’t see the group you are looking for, you can use the search took to find it.

Forums are the central conversation point with the community. The forums work like any other forum system on the Internet.

There is also a chat tool integrated into the website, once you are logged in, you will see a bar across the bottom of the page.

This chat bar works a lot like Facebook, Anybody who is logged in you can chat with. It will however not do group chats.

Any questions please head over to the forums and click on “Website Help”

Thanks for following along!
